I am so obsessed with these fashion gurus who conquer www.youtube.com. They come from different parts of the world. Asians, Black Americans, Caucasians, name it, they are all there, teaching you how to put the proper make up on, doing room tours, telling you what’s in and what’s out in fashion, but what really caught my attention was the tutorial on how to SCRUNCH YOUR HAIR to get temporary curls.
Let me give you a little bit of a background why..
I have a naturally wavy hair to start with, thick hair strands that are just all over the place. I have lived with it for God knows how long! Thanks to technology, the hair rebonding system was invented. Halleluiah! Since then, I had my hair rebonded so many times. I enjoy having long straight black hair, but of course it only lasts for 6 months so I have to let ate Liza (my beauty secret) to work her magic on my hair all over again. I haven’t seen ate Liza for almost 9 months now so just imagine how wavy my hair looks like. (nightmare!) Because of that, I thought of trying digital perm (for a change). However, after reading some awful reviews on the net, I’ve decided to give temporary curls a shot!
I watched these youtube videos about “HAIR SCRUNCHING”. It seemed very easy. I had one more problem though; the hair products that they are using are all from the States. (I am in the Philippines and had I known about hair scrunching 2 years ago, I should have bought those products when I was in the US). Well, since that’s already out of context, what I did was rush to the nearest mall (Robinsons Galleria) and bought the local version of the products. I bought:
• MONEA Curl Defining Milk (around 95php) – for scrunching
• RAVEN hair spray – (around 75php) – to hold your curls
• Professional Touch Salon Styling Mousse – (almost 300php) – to add volume
To cut the story short, I followed all the steps carefully and applied the products on my hair. After about 30 minutes of scrunching, voila! Nothing happened! I still have my wavy roots and straight tips hanging on top of my head.
I can’t say that these products don’t deliver the results that they promise to their consumers. It probably didn’t work for me because I have a rebonded hair. I still keep the products, but it is being used for a different purpose… and that’s to hold my hair in place until I get to see my original “FASHION GURU” again. :)
